The institutional foundation of India's largest domestic share sale held firm on Monday as international and domestic money managers placed over $26 billion in bids for the anchor allocation of Jio Platforms. The telecom, cloud, and digital services arm of Reliance Industries saw demand outstrip the available anchor tranche by more than 30 times, as reported by CNBC and Reuters. The frenzied reception provides early momentum for an initial public offering designed to raise as much as 30,213 crore rupees, or approximately $3.2 billion, at an equity valuation reaching $108 billion[3].
According to an exchange disclosure from parent company Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms finalized the placement of 72.47 million shares at 1,119 rupees each, the absolute ceiling of its marketed price band, to raise 81.1 billion rupees, or roughly $854 million. Institutional accounts spanned 212 allottees across Wall Street asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, and domestic financial houses. The public subscription opens Wednesday, October 21, and runs through Friday, October 23, marking Reliance's first public listing of an operating business since the 2006 flotation of Reliance Petroleum[3].
