Karp's Provocative "Marxist" Accusation

He warned that these frontier AI labs aim to "colonize your enterprise," suggesting they absorb enterprises' data, intellectual property, and expertise into their models to eventually compete with their own customers.
Karp's comments were delivered during Palantir's second-quarter earnings call and in a shareholder letter on Monday, August 3, 2026. He emphasized that enterprises are "paying for the right for them to migrate your IP, your know-how, your expertise to their model, so that they can build a competitive business that doesn't require your business or people." This critique extends to what Karp calls "tokenmaxxing," or "token self-pleasuring," where companies spend excessively on AI tokens without seeing commensurate value, while inadvertently handing over valuable data to outside AI providers.
