This experiment, while mostly pointless, demonstrated the eerie reality of an AI independently choosing how to control a smart device, such as turning a light a dim purple without direct human input.
The concept involved giving the smart bulb a persona, allowing it to express "emotions" through color, brightness, and temperature. The LLM was instructed to "assess the current situation and act accordingly," resulting in the bulb changing its lighting based on the AI's internal processing. This raises questions about the level of autonomy we are comfortable granting our smart home devices and the potential for these "personalities" to evolve in unexpected ways.
